Single’s Day Event: What can we learn from this frenzy sales event?

Single's Day event yesterday was a blast.

I spend over RM 500 yesterday (my colleague did over RM 1,500) on massive price slash products.

And yes, we are all still trying to get back to reality — Single's Event for 2018 had passed.

If you are running a business, it is extremely important to discover what you can learn from these events.

Here are some powerful takeaways from the Single's Event yesterday.

1. Business are going online

It doesn't matter if you are brick and mortar business.

Your customers are going online — and you got to stay visible as much as possible.

Important Takeaway:

Going online doesn't mean that you need to have an online store. Instead, having a well designed website design, a few landing pages and converting sales funnels will always make the cut.

One of the biggest misconception is that businesses need to spend thousands of dollars to get a professional website up and running.

As a matter of fact, you don't have to!

A simple website design with a few landing pages will cost you probably around RM 1,500.00 (or even lower if you don't have much requirements).

2. Email marketing is critical for your success

This is an interesting topic which I had quite a heated (healthy) debate with my co-founder.

Email marketing is powerful and works perfectly well in many Western countries.

However, how about in Malaysia?

The truth is ...

Email marketing not a popular option in Malaysia.

Sure, brands such as Lazada and Shopee had been leveraging email marketing (and probably blasting you away with multiple emails on 11th November) but how often do you get one of those which you are excited to open?

Not much and not yet to be honest.

So, here's a BIG question for you ...

Email marketing is growing in importance and when is your business going to start?

Always remember that every second delay is a second loss!

3. Growing trends in online buyers

People used to be more concerned about online scams those days compared to where we are today.

Now ...

People will rush to get their credit cards faster to buy something online ...

Especially when there's a timer like this one.

Back in those days, Singaporeans are often higher spender than us (Malaysian) in buying things online.

Now, it is safe to say that we are very much on par (or surpasses) with them.

4. Having a good vision

Want to succeed online?

Have a clear vision — and with a clear vision, drive your team towards that goal.

For example, the Single's Event day is all about the fun and yes, sales!

Prior before the date, local brands such as Lazada and Shopee had been sending numerous notifications to customers to inform them about the BIG day.

Leveraging sales during a campaign is one thing ...

Getting the public ready with their credit cards is another.

5. Start now, no matter how small

One of the most common lines we hear at Marketing Lancers are:

  • "We are too small for online marketing"
  • "We are not ready for that market"
  • "Our products are not entirely sell-able in the online space"

The longer you take your time to get online, the longer it will take for you to achieve success in the online space.

As the saying goes, "the best time to start is TODAY!"

Question: What are you waiting for?
